History: Kate's biography @ MCU Wiki
CR AU (Optional): N/A

Personality:
Positive Trait: Heroic. The Chitauri attack on New York City was arguably Kate Bishop's most formative experience. She more or less imprinted on The Avengers, especially Hawkeye, and deeply internalized the superhero philosophy going forward. She grew up aspiring to the feats of heroism that saved her and her city during Earth's first alien invasion. More importantly, she fixated on Hawkeye, one of two members on the team without superpowers, and came to believe that being a hero wasn't about who you were or what powers you had but about what you did. Every day examples of Kate's eagerness to help include cartwheeling into oncoming traffic to save a stray dog and giving sound relationship advice to a mobster while being held hostage. To Kate, being a hero has always meant, to quote her own words, being "brave enough to do what's right, no matter the cost." The first season of Hawkeye essentially documents Kate's heroic journey leading up to her most costly act, when she reports her own mother to the authorities for murder.

Negative Trait: Reckless. Kate Bishop is a disaster human wreaking havoc in a motion blur dust cloud like a Looney Tunes cartoon. Most seniors in college are protective of what they've accomplished and motivated to cross the finish line; you won't find them risking their prospective degrees on some bet. Unless that senior is Kate, who is so incapable of backing down from a challenge that she finds herself accidentally demolishing a campus bell tower on a weeknight. Not long after, she infiltrates a black market auction that gets crashed by the well-armed Tracksuit Mafia. Rather than run for the exits, Kate finds and puts on a ninja costume to take on the mobsters despite not even having her own weapon. When the mob uncovers her identity and comes after her, Kate stubbornly refuses Clint's advice to stay hidden and instead goes to work, the first place anyone would look for her. She puts on her archery sportswear to go rescue Clint from the tracksuits and is almost immediately captured herself. That's just the first two episodes; the list of Kate's reckless actions is extensive and ongoing. She even crosses the street without looking both ways. A few more highlights: physically putting herself between an assassin and her target; jumping out of a skyscraper thinking that she can zip down the building because she watched an assassin with a lifetime of specialized training do it; taking on the Kingpin by herself.

Negative Trait: Spoiled. Kate grew up in a very wealthy household to a very protective mother. Everything that she ever wanted for was provided, so while Kate has a great work ethic and approaches everything she does with maximum effort, she is motivated not by necessity but her own competitive nature and desire to prove herself. When Kate confronts her mother over her involvement with organized crime, she alludes to always having known something was wrong. This suggests a certain level of awareness on Kate's part; she knows that she has been sheltered and she has benefited from it. As someone used to getting everything she wants, Kate never accepts no for an answer. Her repeated pestering of Clint until he lets her in is prime evidence of her persistence. Kate is also convinced that she is always right. She illustrates this point soundly when she tries to stab her mom's boyfriend in the face to prove that he was holding back in a sword fight.

Negative Trait: Impulsive. Kate does not think about consequences. Her mother tells her: "Young people think they're invincible and rich people think they're invincible and you have always been both." Indeed, much of Kate's impulsivity is informed by her sheltered upbringing; her mother always insulated her from negative consequences so she never stops to consider them. This enables impulsive actions like challenging her mom's boyfriend to a sword fight in the foyer and taking on armed gunmen using wine bottles as blunt instruments. While staking out a residence, Kate gets bored of listening to Clint teach her valuable skills and leaves to begin the operation on her own. She claims that of the two of them, Clint should keep watch because she shouldn't be trusted not to get distracted, and Clint calls her out for using her "inability to act like a grown up" to get her way. Kate replies with a self-satisfied, "No, it's not [fair]. But it is what it is."

Negative Trait: Arrogant. Clint calls it Kate's "insane overconfidence" but arrogance is defined as "having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one's own importance or abilities." It's not that Kate can't do those frankly insane feats that she attempts, because she does prove herself more often than not. But she jumps into these incredibly challenging and dangerous situations without the prior experience that would typically inform a person's confidence in their own abilities. She infiltrates a black market auction despite having no clandestine skills, she tackles a mobster armed with a machine gun despite not having real-world hand-to-hand experience (her prior experience is all structured competitions with rules for engagement), and she attempts a rescue mission despite lacking in stealth and any sort of hostage retrieval expertise (it's unclear if Kate would have had the means to contact The Avengers or S.H.I.E.L.D. for support but it never even occurs to her to try). "Some people have actually called me the world's greatest archer," she tells Clint Barton, arguably the actual world's greatest archer, not long after their first meeting. Kate's brand of arrogance flies under the radar because she doesn't necessarily think herself above others, but it is nevertheless a form of arrogance to believe oneself capable of borderline impossible things without hard evidence. On at least one occasion, the fact that this arrogance doesn't get her killed can only be explained by plot armor, because nobody should survive trying to rappel down a skyscraper without even tying herself to the zip cable.

Powers and Abilities: Kate is a world-class archer and a decorated martial athlete. She has a black belt in karate and mainly practices aikido and some judo on screen. She is familiar with a variety of arms including bows and swords (she competes nationally in both archery and fencing) and tasers and guns (from her work for her family's security firm). She recently learned how to make a variety of trick arrowheads, including but not limited to arrows that explode on impact and arrows that release specific payloads such as smoke bombs, sonic disruption, putty, electric surges, and more.

Inventory: Kate is wearing her Hawkeye suit and her inventory items are:

1. Lucky, a one-eyed golden retriever
2. A bow
3. A quiver
